§ 10.12.190. Regulations for specific streets.

  • The following streets and parts of streets are designated and declared to be through streets and stop inter Sections:

    A.

    Walnut Street northerly from Second Street to and including the intersection of Second Street and Sixth Street, and all vehicles moving in an easterly or westerly direction on Third Street, Fourth Street, Fifth Street and Sixth Street shall come to a stop before entering the intersection of such streets and Walnut Street.

    B.

    1.

    Second and Maple. All vehicles moving in a northerly direction on Maple Avenue and in an easterly or westerly direction shall all come to a complete stop before entering into the intersection of Second Street and Maple Avenue; the T intersection is to be a three-way stop intersection.

    2.

    Third and Franklin. All vehicles moving in an easterly or westerly direction on Third Street and in a northerly or southerly direction on Franklin Street shall all come to a complete stop before entering into the intersection of Third and Franklin; the intersection is to be a four-way stop intersection.

    3.

    Second and Franklin. All vehicles moving in an easterly or westerly direction on Second Street and in a northerly or southerly direction on Franklin Street shall all come to a complete stop before entering the intersection of Second and Franklin; the intersection is to be a four-way stop intersection.

    4.

    Third and Peru. All vehicles moving in an easterly or westerly direction on Third Street and in a northerly or southerly direction on Peru Street shall come to a complete stop before entering the intersection of Third and Peru; the intersection is to be a four-way stop intersection.

    5.

    Front and Market. All vehicles moving in an easterly or westerly direction on Front Street and in a northerly or southerly direction on Market Street shall all come to a complete stop before entering the intersection of Front and Market; the intersection is to be a four-way stop intersection.

    6.

    Second and Washington. All vehicles moving in a northerly or southerly direction on Washington Street shall come to a complete stop at Second Street, before entering the intersection of Second and Washington; the intersection is to be a two-way stop intersection.

    7.

    Crest View Trail and Lincoln. All vehicles moving in an easterly direction on Crest View Trail shall come to a complete stop at Lincoln Street, before entering the intersection of Crest View Trail and Lincoln Street, and all vehicles moving south on Lincoln Street shall come to a complete stop at Crest View Trail, before entering the intersection of Crest View Trail and Lincoln Street; the intersection is to be a two—way stop intersection.

    8.

    River Drive and Sumner. All vehicles moving in a southerly direction on Sumner Street shall come to a complete stop at River Drive before entering the intersection of River Drive and Sumner.

    9.

    Front and Chestnut. All vehicles moving in an easterly or westerly direction on Front Street and in a northerly or southerly direction on Chestnut Street shall come to a complete stop before entering the intersection of Front and Chestnut; the intersection is to be a four-way stop intersection.

    10.

    Fifth and Union. All vehicles moving in an easterly or westerly direction on Fifth Street and northerly or southerly direction on Union Street shall come to a complete stop before entering into the intersection of Fifth and Union; the intersection is to be a four—way stop intersection.

    11.

    Fifth and Walnut. All vehicles moving in a westerly direction on Fifth Street shall come to a complete stop at Walnut Street before entering into the intersection at Fifth and Walnut.

    12.

    Seventh and Walnut. All vehicles moving in an easter1y direction on Seventh Street shall come to a complete stop at Walnut Street before entering into the intersection at Seventh and Walnut.

    13.

    Seventh and Colfax. All vehicles moving in a westerly direction on Seventh Street shall come to a complete stop at Colfax Street before entering into the intersection of Seventh and Colfax.

    14.

    Fifth and Market. All vehicles moving in an easterly or westerly direction on Fifth Street and all vehicles moving in a northerly direction on Market Street shall come to a complete stop before entering into the intersection of Fifth and Market.

    C.

    All vehicles moving in a westerly direction on Second Street shall come to a stop before entering the intersection of Second Street and Union Street; and all vehicles moving in a northerly or southerly direction on Union Street shall come to a stop before entering the inter— section of Union Street and Second Street, the intersection of Second Street and Union Street being designated and declared to be a three—way stop intersection.

    D.

    Signs bearing the word "Stop" shall be erected at all entrances to the intersections above enumerated, which signs shall comply with the laws of the state with reference thereto.

    E.

    Every operator of a vehicle shall stop such vehicle at such sign before entering such intersection except when directed to proceed by a traffic officer or a traffic signal.

    F.

    All vehicles moving in a westerly direction on Crest Court shall yield the right-of-way before entering Sumner Street.

    G.

    All vehicles moving in a westerly direction on Crest View Trail shall yield the right-of-way at Sumner Street.

    H.

    All vehicles moving in an easterly direction on Crest Court shall yield the right-of-way before entering Crest View Trail.

    I.

    All vehicles moving in a southerly direction on LaFayette Street shall yield the right-of-way at Merchant Street.

    J.

    No outlet signs shall be placed on Franklin Street at the intersection of Merchant and Franklin, and a no-outlet sign shall be placed on Washington Street at the intersection of Merchant and Washington.

    K.

    The alley on the west side of Union Street located between Second Street and Third Street shall be a one-way alley traveling in a westerly direction from Union Street for a distance of two hundred feet.

    L.

    The intersection of Mineral Street and Illinois State Route 2 shall be closed so that there shall be no ingress or egress for traffic from Mineral Street to Illinois State Route 2 or Illinois State Route 2 to Mineral Street. The closing shall be at a location approximately seventy-five feet from Illinois State Route 2.

    M.

    Semitractor trailers facing north on South Lafayette Street shall be prohibited from turning right, and thereby heading east, onto Blackhawk Drive/Illinois Route 2/72.
