§ 10.16.010. Designated streets.

  • A.

    It is unlawful for any person to operate a snowmobile within the city, except on the following designated streets:

    1.

    Reserved.

    2.

    Along Tower Road (between the road and bike path), between Mill Road and a point just south of the Byron Fire Protection District Training Station;

    3.

    Walnut Street, between Roger's Ready Mix and Diamond Street;

    4.

    Across the Illinois Route 72 bridge;

    5.

    The bike path between the Illinois Route 72 bridge and the Jarrett Prairie Center.

    B.

    All persons operating a snowmobile within the city must use only the above designated streets. However, a resident of the city may operate a snowmobile which has been properly registered under Section 10.16.040, upon other streets, provided they are using the most direct route between their residence and the designated streets.

    C.

    Snowmobiles shall be allowed to access the municipal parking lot located on the east side of Walnut Street between Blackhawk Drive and Second Street, as well as being allowed to use the east/west alley located between Second and Third Streets on the east side of Walnut Street. Such use of said alley and municipal parking lot is for the purpose of accessing parking only and all snowmobiles must exit directly back onto Walnut Street.
