§ 16.30.050. Sidewalks.

  • Concrete sidewalks four feet wide and one foot in from right-of-way shall be installed on both sides of every street with a minimum aggregate base of four inches of Type B one hundred percent crushed, with four inches Portland cement concrete, with a minimum six bag mix and using a fiber mesh. The developer may substitute, with the approval of the city council, an off-site pedestrian trail as an alternative to a sidewalk on local streets.

    A.

    Requirement. The city shall require sidewalks in developments platted inside the city limits and may require sidewalks outside city limits that are subject to a pre-annexation.

    B.

    Construction. Sidewalks shall be constructed of Portland cement concrete, at least four inches thick and four feet wide. The outside edge of walks shall be on the right-of-way and should provide a one foot green strip between he curb and the edge of the sidewalk.

    C.

    Grading. If sidewalks are not provided, the street grade shall be completed so that additional grading would not be necessary for any future provision of sidewalks.

    D.

    Crosswalks. Crosswalks within blocks shall be improved with at least a four foot walk of Portland cement concrete or asphalt four inches thick.

    E.

    In the event multiple lots are purchased for a single residential home, the homeowner is required to construct a sidewalk on all lots. If the same owner of record purchases an adjacent lot, they are required to construct a sidewalk on an empty lot within six months of purchase of the property.
