§ 2.44.020. Duties.

  • The duties of the director of economic development and zoning shall be as directed and assigned by the mayor, but shall include the following:

    A.

    Coordinate all activities of economic development within the city concerning the strengthening and expansion of the city's real estate and retailer's occupation taxes.

    B.

    Serve as the city's representative and point of contact for commercial developers, residential developments, prospective and existing business owners, and all persons interested in locating or relocating a business venture within the city.

    C.

    Implement and assure compliance with all economic programs and incentives within the city, including but not limited to tax increment finance districts, recapture agreements, tax abatements, enterprise zones or other economic incentive packages.

    D.

    Administer and enforce all ordinances pertaining to building permits, construction and zoning within the city, including but not limited to building codes and the development control ordinance.

    E.

    Perform or coordinate the inspection of all buildings or structures, issue all building construction related permits, and generally serve as the enforcement officer for all building and zoning issues within the city.

    F.

    Serve as the TIF coordinator and representative for the city in all TIF development agreements and TIF matters.

    G.

    Any and all grant writing for economic programs and incentives.
