§ 8.60.070. Collection by city.

  • A.

    The director of public works shall have charge of the collection of solid waste and recyclable material in the city. It shall be unlawful for any person to collect same without the written permission of the city.

    B.

    The collection shall be made from all residential premises at least once per week, provided that the material is properly stored for collection in a container complying with the provisions of this chapter. The fees for such collection shall be paid for in advance of service, due fifteen days from issuance of a bill, to the city clerk and shall be as follows:

    Two-family residence (duplex/condo) $16.15 per unit
    Three-family residences $16.15 per unit
    Four-family residences $16.15 per unit

     

    Nothing in this provision will preclude the city from offering a senior citizen discount.

    C.

    The owner of the premises, the occupant thereof, and the user of the collection service shall be jointly and severally liable to pay all charges assessed by the city.

    D.

    Fees and charges for governmental property who opt to have waste collection under this chapter shall be negotiated with the city.

    E.

    Any resident who desires to have garbage and refuse service temporarily discontinued for a period of not less than thirty days and not more than six months must provide written request fifteen days in advance of the date for temporary discontinuation of service, such request subject to the approval of the director of public works or his/her designee.

    Any residence, person, entity or responsible party under this chapter that has any outstanding fee or penalty for any waste, garbage, and rubbish collection service for any address within the city covered by this chapter shall not be entitled to the services provided under this chapter at a new address, until such time that all fees, past due bills, including penalties and any reinstatement fee has been paid on all applicable service addresses within the city.
