§ 5.08.090. License—Class A—Bars/taverns and restaurants.

  • A.

    A Class A license shall entitle the licensee to sell retail alcoholic liquor in the original package for consumption either on or off the premises.

    B.

    Hours shall be Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. the following day. December 31 hours shall be from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. on January 1. In addition, during Exelon outages and/or pre-outages, the hours may be extended from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. on dates to be determined by the liquor commissioner, with the advice and consent of the city council.

    C.

    There shall be a one-time initial fee for each applicant for such license of five thousand dollars. In addition to the initial fee, there shall be an annual fee for such license of one thousand two hundred fifty dollars, but said annual fee may be paid semi-annually in advance.

    D.

    No Class A liquor license shall be issued without a background check as provided in this chapter, the recommendation of the liquor commissioner and approval by the city council.

    E.

    Upon payment of an additional annual fee of three hundred dollars, a Class A licensee may be open Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to midnight. Class A licensees that opt for Sunday hours shall be designated as Class A-1 on the face of the license.
